SEARCH MANDATE: Our private equity client is seeking the right Chief Executive Officer to lead one of its portfolio companies, a leading K-12 software platform. The sponsor has been a committed owner of this platform, backing multiple tuck-in acquisitions to build its footprint, and remains committed to growing the business before an anticipated exit in the next 2-3 years.  

COMPENSATION: A competitive salary, annual bonus, and wealth-building equity grant make for a compelling economic opportunity. 

THE COMPANY

  • Business Model: B2B SaaS 
  • End Market: K-12  
  • Revenue Range: Lower middle-market 
  • Hold Period: 2-3 years to exit; active build with continued sponsor investment 
  • Deal Structure: Control buyout 

INVESTMENT THESIS: Capitalize on regulatory tailwinds to bolster organic growth coupled with strategic add-on acquisitions to drive scale ahead of anticipated exit. 

  • Make the capital-allocation call on the curriculum/SEL portfolio. Lead the commercial transformation of the business.
  • Unlock cross-sell across a loyal, high-retention customer base.

THE SPONSOR: This private equity firm has a solid history of scaling businesses in the middle market. Its sector specialties include business services, consumer, education & training, franchisors, healthcare, software & IT, and specialty manufacturing. Today the sponsor owns 140+ portfolio companies and manages over $10B in assets. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE: We seek a hands-on, GTM-first operator who has run a multi-motion B2B EdTech SaaS organization. Our ideal candidate's background most likely includes: 

  • Business Model: K-12 B2B SaaS  
  • Functional: Commercial-leaning head of a lower middle market EdTech Saas company or Divisional leader within a larger organization 
  • Orientation: Commercial 
  • Private Equity: Highly preferred, not required
