Back to current openings

LOCATION: Remote

RETAINED SEARCH PARTNER: Falcon Partners

SEARCH MANDATE: Our private equity client is seeking the right President to lead its core consulting practice of one of its portfolio companies, a leading provider of consulting, engineering, and managed services to rural telecommunications, broadband, and electric cooperative providers. The sponsor sees a significant opportunity to grow the firm’s historic consulting business and turn its deep regulatory and financial expertise into scalable, AI-enabled offerings.

COMPENSATION: A competitive salary, annual bonus, and wealth-building equity grant make for a compelling economic opportunity.

THE COMPANY:

  • Business Model: B2B consulting or professional service firms
  • End Market: Rural telecommunications, broadband, and electric cooperatives
  • Revenue Range: Mid-market
  • Hold Period: Exit planned for ~2028
  • Deal Structure: Control buyout

INVESTMENT THESIS: Protect and grow the core consulting book while building the next generation of the practice.

  • Lead and grow a tenured bench of expert consultants serving cost studies, regulatory filings, grants and BEAD compliance, and financial management
  • Take early AI-enabled pilots, including FP&A and cost study tools, to packaged, recurring-revenue offerings
  • Position the practice for strong growth ahead of a planned exit, supported by a once-in-a-generation wave of federal broadband funding

THE SPONSOR: This lower middle market private equity firm has a solid history of partnering with founder- and family-led businesses to build scalable platforms. Since its founding in 2010, the firm has made 57 investments and completed 19 exits. Today it manages approximately $588 million in assets and has 11 active portfolio companies.

CANDIDATE PROFILE: We seek a passionate, committed leader with a contagious will to win who can honor this company's past while also leading it into the future. Our ideal candidate's background most likely includes:

  • Business Model: Professional services, ideally regulated-industry, financial, or utility and telecom consulting
  • Functional: Leader of a consulting practice with its own P&L, ideally $15M–$75M in revenue and 50–300 people
  • Orientation: Grows the business through the leaders they manage rather than personal origination; a steady steward of a tenured expert team
  • Private Equity: Preferred, not required
  • M&A: Integration experience a plus
  • Tenure: 15-30+ years of progressive career success
