Operating Partner of a Lower Middle-Market Private Equity Firm

LOCATION: Remote (Travel as needed)   

RETAINED SEARCH PARTNER: Falcon Partners  

SEARCH MANDATE: We have been retained by a leading private equity firm to identify a talented and highly motivated leader to serve as Operating Partner within its portfolio. Reporting to the founding partners of the fund, the Operating Partner will function as a strategic business partner, collaborator, enabler, and problem solver for all assigned businesses within the portfolio. OP will work closely with portfolio company management teams as a “hands-on” resource providing oversight, support, and guidance, while driving for results and establishing a high-performance culture of accountability. Finally, the Operating Partner will be a key player in leading the portfolio companies to successful and profitable exits.    

COMPENSATION: A competitive salary and wealth-building carry within the fund make for a compelling economic opportunity.  

INVESTMENT THESIS:   

  • Complete recapitalizations, build-ups, carve-outs, and generational transition to transform portfolio companies into powerful platform businesses.  
  • Build high-potential businesses through operational improvements and acquisitions.  

THE SPONSOR: This private equity firm has a solid track record of professionalizing and transforming small businesses. It invests in smaller, lower-middle-market companies operating in multi-site, industrial service, distributed workforce businesses.  

CANDIDATE PROFILE: We seek a passionate, committed leader with a contagious will to win who can honor this company's past while also leading it into the future. Our ideal candidate's background most likely includes:  

  • Business Model: Multi-site, industrial service, distributed workforce businesses.  
  • Functional: Proven CEO of a PE-backed Lower middle market business or a key #2 (President or COO) of a larger PE-backed business  
  • Orientation: Commercial experience is preferred 
  • Private Equity: Required 
  • M&A: Highly preferred  
  • Tenure: 15+ years of progressive career success
