LOCATION: Dallas, TX 

RETAINED SEARCH PARTNER: Falcon Partners 

SEARCH MANDATE: Our private equity client is seeking the right Chief Financial Officer to lead one of its portfolio companies, a leading, tech-enabled fundraising platform serving K-12 schools and education-focused organizations. The sponsor is highly conviction-driven around the investment thesis and prepared to invest meaningfully in both organic growth and acquisition-led expansion to scale the business over the hold period. 

COMPENSATION: A competitive salary, annual bonus, and wealth-building equity grant make for a compelling economic opportunity. 

THE COMPANY: 

  • Business Model: Technology-enabled fundraising platform combining software, services, and engagement tools 
  • End Market: K-12 schools, PTAs/PTOs, districts, and education-focused community organizations 
  • Revenue Range: Lower-middle market 
  • Hold Period: Exit planned for around 2029 
  • Deal Structure: Control buyout 

INVESTMENT THESIS: Transform the business and drive scale through organic and inorganic growth while doubling EBITDA over the next 2-3 years. 

  • Professionalize finance, reporting, and analytics to support rapid growth. 
  • Transform the company into a powerful platform business. 
  • Execute and integrate multiple add-on acquisitions, including rebranding and post-close integration. 

THE SPONSOR: The sponsor is a Texas-based investment manager founded in 2018 that employs a fundamental, research-driven approach focused on small-cap companies. The firm utilizes long/short equity and merger arbitrage strategies and manages approximately $560mm AUM. Its investment focus spans business products and services and information technology, with primary geographic exposure to the United States and Canada. While primarily a public-markets investor, the sponsor selectively pursues control-oriented and later-stage opportunities where active ownership can drive strategic, operational, and capital allocation improvement. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE: We seek a passionate, committed leader with a contagious will to win who can honor this company's past while also leading it into the future. Our ideal candidate's background most likely includes: 

  • Business Model: Technology-enabled services, SaaS services, marketplace, or recurring revenue businesses; education, fundraising, or consumer-engagement platforms strongly preferred 
  • Functional: #1 finance leader of a $10mm-$50mm revenue business or #2 finance leader within a larger enterprise responsible for $30mm-$100mm in revenue 
  • Orientation: Highly analytical and comfortable operating in a lean environment, with hands-on responsibility for accounting and end-to-end finance functions while building scalable infrastructure for growth. 
  • Private Equity: Required 
  • M&A: Solid integration experience required 
  • Tenure: 15-35+ years of progressive career success
