SEARCH MANDATE: Our private equity client is seeking the right Director of Sales to lead one of its portfolio companies, a middle-market distribution and services leader in its industry that is well-positioned for continued growth and profitability. The sponsor partners with management to drive continued growth and value by creating a Board of Directors, strengthening the leadership team, sharpening strategy and execution, and delivering organic and acquisitive growth. 

COMPENSATION: A competitive salary, annual bonus, and wealth-building equity grant make for a compelling economic opportunity.

THE COMPANY:

  • Business Model: Distributors/Wholesale
  • End Market: Homeowners to Professional Contractors 
  • Revenue Range: $25mm
  • Hold Period: Exit planned for 3-5 years
  • Deal Structure: Control buyout

INVESTMENT THESIS: Transform the business and drive scale.

  • Complete acquisitions that will add scale, drive customer retention, and expand the Company’s global footprint
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition, addressing challenges and leveraging opportunities to present the Company’s story and value proposition
  • Expand customer relationships by entering adjacent markets and/or introducing new services and products

THE SPONSOR: This Chicago-based private equity firm has a solid history of exclusively focusing on leveraged buyouts and recapitalization of lower middle market companies. Its sector specialties include niche manufacturers, unique service companies, and specialty distributors with revenues of at least $3mm. Today the sponsor owns 18 portfolio companies.

CANDIDATE PROFILE: We seek a passionate, committed leader with a contagious will to win who can honor this company's past while also leading it into the future. Our ideal candidate's background most likely includes:

  • Business Model: Distributors/Wholesale
  • Functional: Proven Sales or Inside Sales leader of a lower middle market company OR Divisional Inside Sales leader (of Sales Operations Supervisor) of an upmarket business
  • Orientation: Heavy sales orientation is required with related experience across marketing, strategy, and operations
  • Private Equity: Preferred
  • M&A: Not required
  • Tenure: 10+ years of progressive sales experience
