LOCATION: Western USA 

RETAINED SEARCH PARTNER: Falcon Partners 

SEARCH MANDATE: Our private equity client is seeking the right Chief Marketing Officer to lead one of its portfolio companies, a B2B multi-product SaaS business. The sponsor is bullish about its investment thesis in this newly acquired platform. They are prepared to invest heavily to drive the company's scale using both inorganic and organic methods. 

COMPENSATION: A competitive salary, annual bonus, and wealth-building equity grant make for a compelling economic opportunity. 

THE COMPANY: 

  • Business Model: B2B SaaS 
  • End Market: Infrastructure Services 
  • Revenue Range: Mid-market 
  • Hold Period: Exit planned for 2027/2028 
  • Deal Structure: Control buyout 

INVESTMENT THESIS: Transform the business and drive scale to roughly $90mm within 1-2 years. 

  • Work cooperatively with the CRO to drive improvement of lead quality and mid-funnel conversion. 
  • Focus on sales enablement to support a growing customer base, with significant opportunity to drive upsell and cross-sell within existing accounts, ranging from simple messaging tools to more strategic marketing support. 
  • Acquire add-ons that will add scale, product, cross-sell, and multiple arbitrages. 

THE SPONSOR: This New York-based private equity firm has a solid history of scaling businesses. Its sector specialties include software and IT, business services, consumer brands, healthcare, specialty manufacturing, and distribution. Today the sponsor owns 143 portfolio companies and has $14B in cumulative capital commitments. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE: We seek a passionate, committed leader with a contagious will to win who can honor this company's past while also leading it into the future. Our ideal candidate's background most likely includes: 

  • Business Model: B2B SaaS 
  • Functional: Top marketing leader of a $10mm-$75mm B2B SaaS organization 
  • Orientation: Mix of demand generation and branding is required with related experience across GTM strategy, budget ownership, product marketing and content  
  • Private Equity: Required 
  • Exit experience: Highly preferred 
  • Tenure: 10-35+ years of progressive career success
