CFO at a PE-Backed Professional Services Business

LOCATION: Cleveland, OH (Hybrid) 

RETAINED SEARCH PARTNER: Falcon Partners 

SEARCH MANDATE: Our private equity client is seeking a CFO who can partner with management and sponsor to lead growth initiatives, institutionalize processes to enable scaling, and unlock embedded earnings to drive equity value points. The business is a client-centric, leading value-added provider of professional services. 

COMPENSATION: A competitive salary, annual bonus, and wealth-building equity grant make for a compelling economic opportunity. 

THE COMPANY: 

  • Business Model: Professional Services 
  • End Markets: Corporate, education, industry, and non-for-profit. 
  • Deal Structure: Growth equity. 
  • Add-ons: Multiple planned during hold. 

INVESTMENT THESIS: Transform the business and drive scale. 

  • Integrate and rebrand the first acquisitions made under this holding company 
  • Transform this entrepreneurially led company into a powerful platform business. 
  • Acquire add-ons that will add scale, product, cross-sell, and multiple arbitrage. 

THE SPONSOR: This Chicago-based private equity firm has a solid history of scaling businesses. Its sector specialties include business, financial, industrial, and technology-enabled services, along with transportation & logistics, healthcare, and distribution industries. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE: We seek a passionate, committed leader with a contagious will to win who can honor this company's past while also leading it into the future. Our ideal candidate's background most likely includes: 

  • Business Model: Professional Services 
  • Functional: Current CFO of $250-450mm revenue services company or number two/divisional financial leader within a $700mm revenue or larger enterprise. 
  • Asset Class: PE experience is a plus but is not required. 
  • M&A: Preferred. 
  • Tenure: 20-35+ years of progressive professional experience including a minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on finance and/or FP&A experience and 3+ years of recent experience leading teams. Early career accounting experience is a plus, but not required.
