LOCATION: Remote 

RETAINED SEARCH PARTNER: Falcon Partners 

SEARCH MANDATE: Our private equity client is seeking the right Director of Internal Audit to lead one of its portfolio companies, a manufacturer of mission-critical engineered components. The sponsor is bullish about its investment thesis in this newly acquired platform. They are prepared to invest heavily to drive the company's scale using both inorganic and organic methods. 

COMPENSATION: A competitive salary, annual bonus, and wealth-building equity grant make for a compelling economic opportunity. 

THE COMPANY: 

  • Business Model: Electro-mechanical component multi-site manufacturing 
  • End Market: Aerospace & Medical  
  • Revenue Range: Mid-market 
  • Hold Period: IPO planned for 2026 
  • Deal Structure: Control buyout 

INVESTMENT THESIS: Transform the business and drive scale by being a strategic partner to the CFO and CAO. 

  • Play a key role in the future of the company by shaping internal control frameworks and readiness for complex transactions, including IPO preparedness. 
  • Review risk areas, judgements, and processes that feed into SEC filings. 
  • Evaluate and test internal controls over financial reporting that support SEC disclosures. 

THE SPONSOR: This Southeastern-based private equity firm has a solid history of scaling businesses. Its sector specialties include defense, aerospace, materials and resources, healthcare, energy and information technology. Today the sponsor owns 20 portfolio companies with over $15B in AUM. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE: We seek a passionate, committed leader with a contagious will to win who can lead the company to its future. Our ideal candidate's background most likely includes: 

  • Business Model: Aerospace & Defense (A&D) manufacturing 
  • Functional: Top Internal Audit leader of a $1B-$10B A&D manufacturing company OR #2 Internal Audit leader of a $5B+ Manufacturing Company 
  • Orientation: Heavy accounting orientation is required with related experience across analytics, operations and executives 
  • Public Company Experience: Required 
  • IPO Experience: Preferred 
  • Tenure: 10-15+ years of progressive career success
